Thanksgiving To-Make & To-Do

Thanksgiving weekend is upon us. In this edition of our Real Estate Collective blog we’re sharing a few recipes, a few things to do, and all the wonderful reminders this holidays brings us.

First Things First - What’s happening in Medicine Hat this holiday weekend.

This year, Thanksgiving Day is Monday, October 12, 2026.

That means the long weekend runs from Friday, October 9 through Monday, October 12.

Here’s a quick look at the weekend:

Friday, October 9

  • Medicine Hat Tigers home game

  • Kids Night Out at Big Marble Go Centre

  • TIC TAC Sci-Fi Night at Medicine Hat Public Library

Saturday, October 10

  • Thanksgiving buffet at Co-op Place

  • Medicine Hat Tigers home game

  • Sunshine Trolley tour

  • PWR/UP AC/DC at the Esplanade

  • Other local events

Sunday, October 11

  • Sunshine Trolley tour

Monday, October 12

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • City facilities have modified hours or closures

  • Big Marble Go Centre: 12–5 p.m.

  • Echo Dale Regional Park remains open for trail walking

  • No waste collection

  • Landfill closed

Of course, the best part of the weekend probably isn't on a schedule at all.

It's the people sitting around your table.

It's the family recipe that comes out every year. The friends who stay a little longer after dinner. The leftovers in the fridge. Speaking of food, we want to share our favourite recipes from the team at Real Estate Collective. Enjoy sifting through them below, or click the link to download the PDF.

We noticed there is a beautiful reminder in each recipe our team suggested.

Elizabeth’s Za-atar + Pomagranate Stuffing reminds us to infuse the traditional with something unique and new.
Candice’s Day Ahead Potatoes teaches us to plan ahead whenever we can.
Jacquie’s Green Beans reminds us that simple is perfect. Sometimes it leaves room for more important things - like family.
Kelsea’s Pumpkin Tart teaches us to take elements we love and make it our own. It could become a family favourite.
Makayla’s Cheese Pate is a great reminder to 1) eat more cheese and 2) prepare an appetizer when you entertain!

Happy Thanksgiving, Medicine Hat!
